Matthew 11

Category: bible reading

Ari: Jesus a drinker! Opens up the discussion of drinking, was it alcohlic or not?

Verse 2-16: John the Baptist the “greatest” prophet (v11) even had doubt. Did he have the holy spirit like us? We have it redably available after the day of Pentecost..

So when we are doubting we should get hope filled from the holy spirit. But also a reminder that we all doubt at times even the best of us.

Verse 21-24: but what does this mean? Another to study I guess.

Thank you for this thought! Rereading this passage has pointed my thoughts to the kingdom of heaven. In chapter 3 John the Baptist said the kingdom of heaven is near. In Matthew 4 Jesus started his ministry with, “Repent (change your way) for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” In this chapter it says the kingdom of heaven is advancing since the days of John the Baptist.

As soon as John baptized Jesus he saw the “Spirit” of God descend upon Jesus. (my emphasis on Spirit) So it is interesting to ponder your question concerning the Holy Spirit. But I would say John did see the Holy Spirit that day and the kingdom of heaven began.
